123...ATG!

Gimme an A...
Gimme a T...
Gimme a G...

What's that spell?????????????

ATG!

That's right, short and sweet. But, there's nothing short about the amount of adhesive on this little gadget! Some are intimidated by it's size, but big tools don't scare me! I've been contemplating buying this little gadget for months, now. But, the price and the lack of availablity, caused me to wait. But, then I found AMR!!! Remember, those awesome guys???? I mentioned in a previous post that Stacey, in deed, does sell ATG's! The price is right and she includes a roll of adhesive, which will last a very very long time!
Here's some pics of the ATG. The width of the adhesive isn't much different than any other tape runner. However, this is 36 yards (not inches) of 1/4" wide adhesive!!! Woohoo.
It's so simple to use. Line up your adhesive, push the trigger, pull the ATG, let go of the trigger and voila! If you can use a glue gun, you can definitely use an ATG!
Here's some pics of this, unattractive, but fun toy...

And the layout, I made yesterday. The only adhesive I used was the ATG (Except for the letters, where I used the Xyron 150)...

Photo A Day - April

So, it seems to be a hot topic on some mb's. A Photo A Day challenge. Some of the challenges are specific, like at EBB, and some not so, like at AMR. I've been participating in Tiff's challenge at EBB. Mostly because I like the different topics. It, started on the 13 of the month and is continuing to the end. Therefore, I will share what I have done, up until now and update as the month goes on.

1. Water

2. Angled Image

3. Grass (one of my favorites)

4. Buds (I had to be funny with this one)

5. Group of 3 (some of my favorite things)

6. Self-Portrait (ACK!)

7. Rocks

8. Animal

9. Any Image (This one, was actually taken in the Fall)

10. Bubbles (this was fun!)

Scrapbooking Terminology

So, the other night, the hubby asks, "What's a crop?" It never really occured to me that us scrapbookers have our own lingo, that, usually, only we understand. So, I've done some research, and visited several different sites to get some sb (scrapbooking)terms and their definitions. If there's anything that I missed, please, feel free to add comments.

Acid Free Acid can cause paper to disinigrate over time. Acid can cause photos to deteriorate. Not all sb materisals are photo-safe. It's very important that all of your papers, pens, etc, say acid-free, or, eventually, it can ruin your photos and your layouts.

Adhesive Any kind of glue or tape can be considered adhesive. Adhesive is what sticks one thing to another. In the sb world, there are several kinds of adhesive from tape runners, glue sticks, glue dots to ATG guns (the best thing ever!).

Challenge A lot of us tend to rely on challenges for ideas for layouts, much like myself. A challenge is a motivator. Something to help us get started on a layout or project. It's also a great way to get people to try new things and expand their creative zone!

Crop Probably one of the most common terms used in sb'ing. Technically, to crop is the cutting down of a photo. However, cropping is also knonw as an activity for scrapbookers to gather and spend time scrapbooking with each other. Crops can go in various directions. You can have just a group of friends get together and share tools & ideas while you scrap or you can go to the extent of having games, challenges, and door prizes. There are also on-line crops for those who don't have a lot of local friends to scrap with or are just looking for new challenges and ideas.

Die-Cut A shape or letter cut from paper. Usually by machine or using a pattern.

Embellish or Embellishment To embellish a scrapbook page, is to enhance it. Usually with something other than words and a photo. Embellishment is the item used to embellish.

Element Basically, any item on your layout is considered an element.

Eyelet Small, metal circles, like what's used on a shoe to thread laces. They're used in a scrapbook context as a decoration and can hold elements on a page.

Journaling Journaling is the writting on your sb page. It can range from a simple title to a full page of your thoughts & feelings about the photos on your page. Journaling is done in many forms...letter stickers, or the most preferred, your own handwritting.

Matting The frame for your photo. You can matte a picture any way you like. Usually used with coordinating papers on your layout and the colors in your photos.

Page Protector The clear, acid free, cover used to protect your finished pages.

Permanent A term used for adhesives. The glue that we want to stay, not move around.

Photo Corners Holds a photo to a page by slipping the corners of the photo into them.

Post Bound Album An album that uses metal posts to hold the binding together. These albums can be extended with more posts to make thicker. Usually page protectors are already included on the album pages.

Punch A tool used to "punch" decorative shapes from paper or cardstock.

Punchies The paper shape which results from using a paper punch tool. Punchies can be used on a sb page for a decorative effect.

Repositionable Adhesive Used for adhesives that do not create a permanent bond until dry.

Scrapbook A collection of memories. Usually includes photos and journaling, although, by definition, a scrapbook can include anything memorable such as newspaper clippings, certificates, locks of hair, etc.

Scrapbooking The process of preserving photos and memorabilia by ceatively placing them in albums. A scrapbook is simply a decorated photo album, but it's different from a photo album because it preserves something more than just the photos.

Scraplift To copy an accent or embellishment idea, or the entire design of a scrapbook page.

Scrapper's block A horrible disease that all sb'rs get, now and then. A big creativity block...when we don't know what to do next.

Sketch A drawing or outline of a scrapbook page and/or card.

Strap Hinge Album Uses straps to allow pages to lie completely flat when the albums open.

Template Plastic or card sheet with punched out shapes to trace or cut.

Trimmer Tool used for, usually, straight cutting photos and paper.

Vellum A semi-transparent paper.

So, that's the basics. I know there's a ton more that I'm missing. I didn't even get into abbreviations like LSS or PP (not pee pee lol). I'll save that, for, yet, another thread, at some point.

Of course, I'm not as smart as I look, and had some help with these terms. So, I'll give credit where credit's due:

allmomentsremembered

So, you've heard me brag about EBB Creations and you've heard me talk up Creating Keepsakes. Now, lets talk about AMR! What is AMR? AMR stands for allmomentsremembered . Very appropriate, I must say, considering our hobby.
AMR is, not only an on-line scrapbook store, AMR is a place to go, to hang out, make friends, and have fun on their mb. AMR is a gallery full of loads of talented women who like to share their creativity with the rest of us.
What makes AMR stand out from the rest of the scrapbook mb's and on-line stores? Well, what drew me in to AMR, first, aside from the fact that many familiar people were already there, is the closeness. The warm welcomes I received. The more I kept coming here, the more I felt "at home." How many message boards do you know out there, where the owner takes the time to read every single post, just to get to know your personality. Then, personally, creates your own, very special title for under your avatar. How great is that? That's personality, I tell ya! Do I have a title at AMR? I sure do! I am known as the official AMR "Girl Scout Cookie Enabler"! Oh yes, the title fits perfect!!!

So, I decided that I loved AMR so much that I would show my support and place an order through Stacey's (the owner)store. I was in need of a new American Crafts binder and saw that she carried them. The price is great, the cheapest I've seen around. Low & behold...AMR sells ATG's!!!! What's an ATG? I'll get to that in a later post! lol. It took awhile for my order to arrive. My own fault, no big deal. But, I got home last night and saw the box from allmomentsremembered sitting in my kitchen! I was soooo excited, I started dancing around, before I even opened it. I open the box. There's my binder...woohoo...there's the ATG Box...woohooo, along with some Zip Dry glue and clear acrylic letters. (I figure if I'm going to experiment with acrylic, I'll start small). Anyway, that was my order, but, there was more. I see something shimmering, in a package. I don't think I ordered any bling??? Oh, Ms Stacey, didn't have to do this. She RAK'd me with BLING!!!! Not just any bling, but PRINCESS BLING!!!!! I mean c'mon, now! It doesn't get any better than that. If you know me on the mb's, you know that I AM the SCRAPBOOKING PRINCESS! Stacey, you rock!!! Along with the bling, she sends me a couple little candies..Cream Savers, no less, and some other little goodies to play with.

Ok, so now we've talked about the personal titles, and the store. Let's talk about the mb. I have been paired up with the best scrap pal, ever. That's right, a total stranger, whom I talk with almost daily on yahoo messenger (hi Kelly). We've been finding out that we have a lot more in common than just being a Girl Scout Leader and Scrapbooker! Thanks ScrappyCindy for hooking us up! You done good. LOL, I feel like it was from Match.com or something!
Then, there's the Flat Scrappers. We're doing Flat Scrappers on EBB, too. But, the original idea came from AMR. So far, my Flat Jen has been to Missouri, and most recently Richmond, VA!
Thanks to the AMR daily blogger update thread, I've had more people coming to my blog and checking it out. It's great to come by and see comments from all of you.
Needless to say, if you haven't been to www.allmomentsremembered.com , yet, well you're missing out on an incredible scrapbooking experience.

Just a couple of layouts to share

Here are a couple that I worked on this week. The mom & me is for a sketch challenge that I'm hosting at EBB. The challenges will be every month. I'll pick a sketch from the EBB sketch gallery, do a layout for that sketch and post the challenge. All those who participate will have a month to do the layout based on the sketch I posted. Everyone will be put into a drawing and who's name is picked will win a prize! This is just my way to encourage designers to not only create new layouts, but, the more designers that add to the sketch gallery, the more I have to choose from and get to play with!

This other layout...Spring, is for the Spring Challenge on allmomentsremembered. Along with the layout, I need to still do a Spring Card and ATC. This is way out of my bounds. These papers, colors, layers, etc. But, I'm lovin' the outcome! Sometimes it's fun to expand your horizons.
It's a beautiful day, here, in central NY! 80 degrees with clear, blue skies and no wind! We haven't had a day like this in April, in years! Our plans are to spend the afternoon at the park and get some fresh, beautiful, Spring air. More photo opps, I might add!!!! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Happy Scrappin'!

And for the Main Dish...American Crafts!

Okay, so I'm backwards! I have my dessert before the main meal! But, this is all low-cal, so it doesn't matter, right?

I love this layout. I love how the colors all contrast each other, the black and yellow, verses the pink that Lizzy's wearing this day.

This layout just proves that teachers make mistakes, too, and they really don't know everything. Shhhh!

Cosmo Cricket for Dessert

Yeah, that sounds funny, doesn't it??? ROFL!
Here are a couple of things I did with the Cosmo Cricket papers that came with April's Dessert Kit.
This was quite a challenge, because most people would probably associate this sort of theme with boys. The kit included pp and bazzill cardstock. EBB always includes Bazzill with their kits!!!! Love that about them. Also included were some metal tags, and shrink film (for shrinkie dinks). I've never used shrink film, in my life. That was definitely a challenge. But, once I succeeded, low and behold, I bought more! LOL. Practice makes perfect, I always say!
I thought the Thomas Trains was appropriate for the pp with the gears on it! I still ask myself, did Jim by the train sets for him or for the girls? Not sure who has more fun with them.

Here's a card. It's blank inside and generic. It can be used for a birthday, hello, thank you, or anything else! It's perfect for a little one to give to that special friend. The robot was made with the shrink film that I mentioned. I used my orange, Sakura Soufflet Pen and added the "stitching".

Wet N Wild

Here's a layout I did for EBB's April Week #1 Challenge from Sarah.
I titled the layout "Wet 'n Wild". I used my Sizzix to cut the letters to match the pp used in the layout. The pics are from Summer '06.

My Wish

Ok, at EBB we're doing this photo swap. Swapping photos and making layouts for other people with their pictures. I had come accross some pics of Liz & Sarah from almost four years ago. Anita did the layout for me. She is such a talented scrapbooker. I love what she did with this layout. She knows my passion for Rascal Flatts and picked the perfect song!!!! God bless her for doing such a beautiful job with this. Thank you, Anita!!!!

I hope the days come easy and moments pass slow
And each road leads you where you want to go
And if you’re faced with the choice and you have to choose
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you

And if one door opens to another door closed
I hope you keep on walkin’ til you find the window
If it’s cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile
But more than anything, more than anything

My wish for you
Is that this life becomes all that you want it to
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small
You never need to carry more than you can hold

And while you’re out there gettin’ where you’re gettin’ to
I hope you know somebody loves you
And wants the same things too
Yeah, this is my wish

I hope you never look back but you never forget
All the ones who love you and the place you left
I hope you always forgive and you never regret
And you help somebody every chance you get

Oh, you’d find God’s grace in every mistake
And always give more than you take
But more than anything, yeah more than anything.

April Kit Sneak Peek

It's official! My first EBB DT project is complete! I finished and emailed it tonight. Yay, I'm so excited. We have a thread going for sneak peeks if you want to check out the forums at www.ebbcreations.com. Remember the kit comes in three parts. The appetizer, main dish, and dessert. I had to do a project from the dessert. So, this sneaky peek is only a tiny, small part of what you'll get with your kits. If you want to see more, join us on the 15th of this month for our Kit Reveal Party. We'll have a thread where all of us DT members will post our full, completed projects and then some! You won't want to miss this! We'll have prizes and give-aways, too!!!

Sweet

A layout using one of my swap kits I rec'd from my Cocoa group. With this swap kit, we came up with a title that we'd like, then, another member created the kit. The kits included, the title, some scraps and embellishments. This was a fun swap. It's neat to see what other people have and their view of the title you asked for.
Here's "Sweet". I love the browns with these pictures.

Where would we be....

without the internet??? Some friends at EBB got me thinking about it today. The message board over there is temporarily down. So, in conversing back and forth in the "shoutbox" (thank God for that lol), it was brought up. How often are we on-line? What in the world did we do to entertain ourselves before the internet came along? Almost as bad as kids with video games. I don't know about many of you, but, I myself, spend more than half of my life on-line. How sad is that? Well, actually, it depends on the time of year. But, with my job, during down time, that's what I do. Browse the net, hang out and play on mb's and so on. Now, of course, with having high-speed internet at home, we're on-line way too much. Jim and I will sit there in the living room with both of our laptops open playing on-line, instead of talking to each other. But, on that same note, some of what we're doing on-line starts conversation with each other, too.
So, have you found yourself not involved in as many activities outside the home because of the internet? Or would you just be flipping through tv channels? That's me. I still have my activities. I still scrap, I still go to Girl Scout functions, etc. But, now, instead of watching endless hours of nonsense TV, I watch the internet! lol. I rarely watch tv anymore. I turn my computer on before I turn the tv on.
So, share with us, how many hours a day are you on-line? What do you use the internet for? Do you watch much tv at all? Does the housework get caught up when the internet is temporarily down? I get all aggravated and flustered when my internet goes out. What about you?

AMR On-line crop layouts

Here are a couple layouts that I managed to get done during this weekends on-line crop at allmomentsremembered. The first one, called Spring Bling. The challenge was to get out the bling and it had to be a Spring theme. This is my kind of challenge! I love bling! So, I creatively titled it, "Spring Bling". lol.
The challenge for "Kitty Witty" was to do a one photo layout, making a frame with embellishments. I used Tim Holtz Grungeboard. Never used it before, but got it with my EBB kit last month. Boy, that stuff's fun! I inked it with Tim Holtz distressing ink.

So, what's EBB?

EBB Creations is a local scrapbook store. Well, local if you live in Southern Cali, where the brick and mortar store is located. EBB's owned by two guys...yep, two, guys...Enrique & Scott. EBB Creations is also a monthly kit club. The kits are awesome! Loaded with all sorts of brand named goodies. There are three parts to the kit...Appetizer, Main Dish, and Dessert. You can see why we call it the "All you can eat, kit buffet"! Each portion comes with coordinated pp's, cardstocks, and embellies. Aside from the kits, EBB carries a variety of scrapbooking goodies at competitive prices. All the major brand names and the hottest new items. Stickles of a rainbow of colors, plus the newest Pink Paislee line.
EBB Creations also has a message board loaded with scrapbooking info, challenges, fun and games! Scrapbooking and non-scrapbooking related topics are both included. Please stop in and check us out.
Sign up with a monthly kit subscription and I'll give you a coupon code for 25% off of your next store purchase!
I hope to see you there!

Where in the world is Flat Princess

Flat Jen, Flat Princess, whatever you want to call her, has been hanging out with Julie in Missouri. Apparently, we've had quite an adventure, so far. We went to work with Julie, who's a vetranarian and got to help with surgery. Very, very cool. I played with a snake...which....OMG....would NEVER, EVER happen! lol. I hung out with some of Julie's friends, tried to steal her Stickles and played with the animals in her barn! Sounds like a lot of fun to me...minus the snake thing...lol! I guess since I survived it, it wasn't that bad!
So here are some pics of what we've been up to in Missouri.

Flat Scrapper Update

I just received word that Flat Princess arrived safely in Missouri. I feel bad mailing her out late. She won't get to spend as much time with Jewelz, as everyone else, but I'm sure Jewelz will make the most of her time. I'm very excited and can't wait to get pics!
In the meantime, we've been hanging out with Flat Mylee from AMR. Mylee's always smiling and no trouble at all...except for trying to run off with those Girl Scout cookies. Can't figure out which ones are her favorites? lol Flat Mylee went shopping with Sarah and I, last Saturday. Michael's, and ACMoore were on our agenda. She joined me at Dunkin Donuts, this morning for delicious DD coffee and a couple of donuts. Today's a beautiful day, so I'm going to take her around to some local sites, during lunch hour. This weekend, we'll take Flat Mylee to the mall before she heads out to Missouri to visit Jewelz.
Also, I have another Flat Scrapper swap starting up with the EBB girls! So, Flat Princess II will be seeing other parts of the country, too. I'm hoping someone will be kind enough to take her to the EBB brick & mortar store, since I can't get there in real life. This is just too much fun.
I'm considering making this a project for our Girl Scout troop, maybe, for next year. I think the girls will really enjoy it. We'll see.
Here's some pics of Flat Mylee and her adventures.
